Katie Youn is an award-winning Korean-American director, producer, assistant director, and editor based in Los Angeles. Originally hailing from the greater Philadelphia area, her passion for filmmaking began in middle school when she started making short films for class projects. She now attends the USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, pursing a Film and Television Production BFA. There, she has been involved in numerous student projects—including her most recent directorial project, Geseung, created during the rigorous production course CTPR-310.
Beyond the classroom, she has gained industry experience through internships at Footprint Features and her role as a video technician at USC’s School of Dramatic Arts. As a freelance filmmaker, she has collaborated on a range of independent projects across Los Angeles. She is currently serving as co-producer on a product launch campaign for the startup Mark, Inc., further expanding her experience in commercial production.
Creatively, she’s most interested in telling stories that reflect on the complex, tragic, and beautiful relationships that everyday people have with themselves and others. When not working on film-related projects, you can catch her exploring the city, flying through the list of NYTimes Games, and rewatching 2024-2025 Philadelphia Eagles offense highlights.
